Are You A SIMP?

The term simp is a play on the term pimp. A pimp is a man that controls and manipulates a woman to get her to do his bidding. In a literal definition he has her have sex with other men for money and acts as a broker, protector, and enforcer. He controls all the money in this partnership and decides how she must conduct herself. The woman has little to no control. This type of relationship is manipulative and abusive.

A simp, in contrast, is treated the opposite of that of a pimp. Where a pimp controls with respect and elevated levels of fear, the simping man is under the control of the manipulative powers of a woman. He gives her money for her time. This may or may not involve sex. The woman has little to no respect for the man and uses him for financial security.

Neither of the two relationships described above are healthy. Relationships built around money and transactions are more like business arrangements. That is fine if that is what you are willingly signing up for. A good example of this is the late Hugh Hefner and his “Playboy Bunnies”. He was a multi-millionaire magazine mogul with a lifestyle that encouraged young women in their early twenties to partake in his wealth and fame in exchange for sex. In any other circumstances, an old man could not convince dozens of women to stay with, let alone sleep with. However, in most cases, the partners in these relationships had no idea they were joining into a union with a self-serving, controlling, manipulating egomaniac.

There are signs that you could be involved with a person looking to take advantage of you. You may in fact be behaving as a simp yourself without knowing it. Here are some signs you are a simp:

• The woman has guilted you into providing funds or pay for services that only serve her without any means or intentions for reciprocity. In this instance, you may be asked to provide funds for rent, childcare, food, and transportation. What makes this a negative situation is if these services only serve her and not you. If you do not live with her, do not have children with her, are not attending a date with her, or are planning to gift a car to a woman, all these are examples of simping, respectively. She is essentially asking for a favor.

• The woman has extraordinarily little regards for your feelings. Manipulative women tend to not care about a man’s feelings. Her only concern is whether her needs and wants are being met. All relationships are conditional, even marriage. The difference here is you are put under duress and abused psychologically, emotionally, or financially unless you act according to the manipulative woman’s demands.

• The woman always seems just out of reach and the relationship is lopsided. If you are always chasing after a woman but she never seems completely interested, you could be in a simping situation. Likely, she will keep you around to vent about other men and use you for emotional support. She will ask for favors and give you warm affection afterwards. But for whatever reason she will go out of her way to be with someone else even though you would do anything for her. You love her but she takes you for granted after all you have done. If you stick around, you accept that she is using, manipulating, controlling, and emotionally abusing you…You, Sir, are a SIMP.

Be cautious if you find yourself in any of the above situations so you are not willingly taking part in the deceitful intentions of a manipulative woman. Every honorable man deserves to walk this journey of life with a good woman. It is better that way. There are enough good women looking for a man to love on. Too many people in relationships take their partners for granted looking for greener grass. Do not be fooled by today’s media into thinking that there is some shortage of good people to love on. If you recognize the behavior above in your partner, the grass is definitely greener somewhere else, and it is her that is taking you for granted.
